The BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business is part of the Business Services Training Package and reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowlegde base in a wide variety of contexts.
Job roles relevant to this qualification may include: Office Administration Assistant, Clerk, Small Business Owner/Operaror/Manager, Rceptionist, Secretary, etc.
The BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business comprises skill areas that are applied across the whole of the Business Services scope and will enable a person to work effectively in a workplace.
Participants will normally be engaged in a workplace in which they:
* Demonstrate an understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating some theoretical concepts
* Apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems
* Identify and apply skill and knowledge areas to a wide variety of contexts with depth in some cases
* Identify, analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources
* Take responsibility for own outputs in relation to specified quality standards
* Take limited responsibility for the quantity and quality of the output of others
Participants must demonstrate competency in ten(10) units for the award.
1 Core Unit (BSBOHS407A Monitor a safe workplace) and 9 Elective Units from the two 'Elective Groups' below
Core Unit
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor the organisation's Occupational Health and Safety policies and programs in the relevant work area to meet legislative requirements.
(Prepare and write reports)
The balance of your 9 elective Units may be selected from the following currently offered Group 2 Electives, or relevant Units from the Business Services Training Package, or any other currently Endorsed National Training Package. 1 Unit may be selected from either a Certificate III or Diploma level.
Candidates may undertake a structured program of training and assessment in:
* an on-the-job environment
* an off-the-job environment
* combination of on- and off -the job environments
* Self-paced external study
Candidates may apply to have competencies gained through work and life experiences, assessed through an RPL process.
This can be done by matching their relevant formal and in-formal qualifications, work and life experiences against each unit of competecy and submitting JP Certified copies of original supporting documentary evidence.
Participants must demonstrate competency in the required 10 units to receive the qualification. A Statement of Attainment will be awarded for any unit successfully completed
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowlrdge required to advise on, and carry out customer service strategies, and evaluate customer strategies on the basis of feedback and design strategies for improvement.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to organise meetings, including liaising with participants and developing and distributing meeting related documentation (may include notifying participants, providing agendas, papers and minutes)

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to gather, organise and present workplace information using available systems.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and maintain effective workplace relationships and networks. It covers the relationship building and negotiation skills required by workers within an organisation as well as freelance or contract workers.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to coordinate and review the promotion of an organisation's products and services.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to determine individual and team needs and facilitate the development of the workgoup.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a straight forward project, or a section of a larger project, the development of a project plan, administering and monitoring the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learnt for application to future projects. It focuses on the application of project management skills and the requirement to meet time lines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and implement marketing strategies and to monitor and improve market performance.
